Last Friday Tarneit College’s at Magic for Milan Day raised more than $1,700 for children undergoing cancer treatment through @Koala Kids Foundation. Milan, who celebrated the end of his cancer treatment in November 2015, had received so many small treats from Koala Kids during his treatment and he chose to celebrate his seventh birthday by giving gifts to the other children with cancer.
This year, to mark his 9th birthday, Milan wanted to give back again by holding a special ‘free dress’ day, with students wearing a touch of Koala Kids orange, and the school and wider community invited to donate gold coins or small boxes of LEGO or LEGO DUPLO
An incredible $1760.40 was raised from gold coin donations, with many students also opting to bring boxes of Lego and Duplo of different sizes.
In addition, at a special school assembly, the manager of the new Coles store in Tarneit Central, which will open on 4 October, presented Milan and his mother Jemima with $500 worth of $50 Coles vouchers, especially for families in the Kookaburra ward at The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne
Jemima said, “This surpassed our expectations and we are beyond overjoyed to be able to give support to Koala Kids. We are so blessed and so grateful to be able to give back to a Foundation who has done so much for our own family, and does so much for so many, many more!”
A very proud Milan added, “I can’t wait to do it again next year. Koala Kids’ heartfelt thanks go to ‘magic’ Milan, his family, friends, fellow students, all at Tarneit College, many kind community supporters and to Coles, Tarneit Central.
